No. 23/19 Tech and SeattleU battle to scoreless draw
No. 23/19 Texas Tech playing through the elements created by Tropical Storm Lulu, battled SeattleU to a scoreless 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon at the Lower Campus Stadium.
In the draw, Texas Tech (1-0-1) goalkeeper Addie Todd made seven saves to earn her second-straight clean sheet.
Playing through driving rain at times and sustained 20-30 MPH winds, Tech nearly went up 1-0 in the 10th-minute when a rising Emma Torres shot destined for the upper corner of the net was saved by Seattle’s (0-1-1) Kassidy Kirgan for a corner.
The chance by Torres was the best chance for the Red Raiders in the first half.
Just nine minutes later, it was the Red Raider goalkeeper turn to make a big save, as Todd made two strong saves on Redhawk striker Katie Pieburn in the 19th minute.
After halftime the Red Raiders nearly made it 1-0 in the 52nd minute when midfielder Sophia Neves was wide open at the end of the Redhawks six-yard box. Neves crossed a ball that found Raleigh Greason, but SUs goalkeeper, Kirgan was down injured and play was stopped with Greason wide open in the 18-yard box.
Tech’s final chance of the afternoon occurred in the 84th minute when a rising shot was punched out by Seattle’s substitute keeper Rachel Remnet.

The Red Raiders will return home next weekend for the home opener against Boise State. First touch from the John Walker Soccer Complex is set for 7 p.m.
