One Killed, Two Injured In Thursday Morning Crash
One person was killed and two injured in a three-vehicle crash Thursday morning at 8:10 at I-40 and Arnot Road. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2022 Mack Truck Driven by 48-year-old Jimmy Diaz of Amarillo was traveling westbound on I-40 and a 1999 Ford F250 Pickup driven by Jimmy Broyles of Logan, New Mexico and a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 24-year-old Evelyn Karina Rangel Gonzalez of Harlingen were traveling eastbound on I-40. Diaz’ Mack Truck traveled into the center median, through the cable barrier, and into the eastbound lanes. The Mack collided with Broyles, sending his vehicle into the Malibu. The Mack Truck continued across the frontage road and into an open field; Broyles vehicle rolled over and came to rest in the center median, as The Malibu skidded into the center median. Mr. Broyles was pronounced deceased on scene as a result of the injuries sustained during the crash. Both Diaz and Rangel-Gonzalez were transport to Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital with injuries The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating.
