Amarillo Fire Department Fights Drexel Road Blaze
The Amarillo Fire Department responded to an explosion and structure fire in the 6400 block of Drexel Road Friday morning at 12:50. Firefighters found dark smoke coming from the residence and crews determined the fire was located in the attached garage of the single-family home. Firefighters entered the residence, conducted a primary search, and began fire attack in the garage.
The fire was brought under control at 1:16 a.m. Crews completed primary and secondary searches of the residence, ventilated the structure, and performed salvage and overhaul operations. All three occupants were outside the residence when firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported. They were displaced as a result of the incident. The fire caused moderate damage to the structure, with significant fire damage to a vehicle located inside the garage. The Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the incident and has ruled the fire accidental.
