Amarillo City Council Recap From Tuesday
The Amarillo City Council on Tuesday approved by a 4-1 vote to approve a Temporary Landscape Maintenance Agreement for landscape maintenance services with Golden Standard Tree and Lawn for the remainder of the season, effective July 15, 2026, through December 31, 2026. By a 5-0 vote, the Council approved the adoption of the City of Amarillo 2026 Investment Policy. Amarillo City Council is responsible for approving the investment policy annually. They also voted 5-0 to fill a vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Board. The Council discussed the roles and responsibilities of the Council Audit Committee and he definition for potential forensic audit scope to include CIP projects, sewer and water, and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) monies. Council members recognized the Read to Lead Club and Panhandle Legends, an educational series by King Hill that highlights the history, heritage, and notable people of Amarillo-area.
