Texas Tech Players to Watch for the 2027 NBA Draft

Tech players to reach the next level?
In the way too early 2027 NBA mock drafts a majority of them don’t name any Red Raiders but
here are the names to watch.
Texas Tech has some fascinating prospects for the 2026-27 season that may be ready to advance
in their basketball careers.
JT Toppin will be mentioned and discussed in the coming spring as a possible NBA future, but
due to his season-ending ACL injury and the addition of the 5 for 5 but it is not clear on what
class it affects, Toppin may wait until the 2028 NBA Draft.
Toppin had mocks for the 26th draft in the late first or early second round prior to his injury.
With 25 games played this past season, his statistics increased to 21.8 points per game, 10
rebounds and forcing two turnovers per game. However, because of the uncertainty surrounding
Toppin’s future on if he will declare for a redshirt or not, we will not include him in this possible
class for the purposes of this article.
Cruz Davis, a transfer from Hofstra Pride, may advance in mock drafts as the season goes on. In
his final season with the Pride, the 6’3 junior point guard averaged 20 points and 4.7 assists.
Davis can shoot 40% from outside the arc and run the pick roll at a high rate. If he applies those
figures to the Big 12, it wouldn’t be shocking if he ended up in first-round conversations.
In the 26–27 season, DaKari Spear, a true freshman shooting guard, might have the highest NBA
ceiling. Spear, who stands at 6 ‘5,” can shoot the 3 ball, but his true skill is using his 6’ 10
wingspan to reach the rim and float above players to hit the mid range shot. He may soon rocket
up the boards with those measurements and qualities. Making more consistent three-pointers
would be a development to keep an eye on.
The last player that can have NBA scouts looking their way for the 27 draft would be junior
Josiah Moseley. He will be in his second season with Texas Tech where he looks to take a higher
role with the team. Moseley started to show flashes of what he could be after a 16 point
showcase in the Round of 64 win over Akron. He stands in at 6 ‘8 with the ability to finish at the
rim at an elite rate. For his chances to increase for the NBA would rely on how his jumpshot
improves this upcoming season.
These are Texas Tech’s three way too early NBA draft candidates, but they still have a year to
add to or subtract from the list. With the highest likelihood is only Davis declares for the 2027
NBA draft as he will be entering his senior season.
